After the Fire

This is how it looks now after a fire was stopped right here at this road through the mountains about 3 years ago. Some aspen seedlings are starting to grow and a few wildflowers but still lots of dead trees. Standing dead trees, commonly called 'widow makers' can be dangerious to walk near as you never know when one is apt to fall down. This fire had come across the top of a ridge and down into a rocky area that helped stop it as well as little rain.

Forest Fire

the smoke here gets worse and worse each evening. Not sure how the horses are handling it so well so far. They arn't showing any sign of problems from it. But I have had more asthma than I have had in years and years. Been keeping dogs and cats in the house as much as possible. We need some rain so bad to get this darn fire under contol but no sign of any according to news people. The fire is about 250 miles from here and about a mile from New Mexico/Arizona border. Lots of people have already evacuated. Don't know how it can get much worse.

Smoke

With all the smoke we have had coming into the Rio Rancho/Albuquerque area I decided to take some photos of it this evening. The sun, (yes, that is the sun, and not the moon) could be looked at with the naked eye with so much smoke in front of it. But I couldn't get it to come out the red color it looked to me.
