Jemez Pueblo Red Rocks

These red rocks are a favorite stopping place across the highway from the Jemez Pueblo gas station, and museum. Usually there are Jemez Pueblo Indians selling fry bread, oven bread, or other goodies at stands in front of the rocks. On this day there was no one there and we didn't get to buy any of the fry bread that is so good tasting but not so good for you as it is fried flour dough with lots of grease on it, but oh so yummy.

Jemez Pueblo

A photo of the visitors center, and one of the places where the Jemez Indians sometimes sell fry bread that they bake on the spot.

From the Highway

These are photos of the high desert country that can be seen as you drive on Highway 550 between Rio Rancho and Jemez Pueblo.

In The Rain

This is how it looked when we parked to let the rain let up as it was raining extreamly hard. This is the Jemez Pueblo Visitors Center where we buy fry bread to eat. You can just barely see one of the remadas on the right edge of the photo where they put out their food items and cook the fry bread in big pans of hot greese over wood fires.
