In The Rain

And the Rains Came
On Saturday evening the rain finally came. We had almost 2 inches in less than an hour and we needed it. We had huge puddles in the yard and horse pens that by Sunday morning had sunk into our dry, thirsty ground. And now the ground is almost dryed out again. The rain can come again if it wants to.
Of course the horses had to roll in the mud and get as muddy as they could. But the plants and trees loved it. Plants always do better after a big rain like that regardless of how much water you give them otherwise even when it is well water like we have.

Thunderhead Clouds
We have been having what is called the New Mexico monsoon season. We have had more rain this year than we have had for several years. This is more like we used to have 25 to 30 years ago and more. Which is really good. Nearly every afternoon we watch the thunderhead clouds come across the Sandia Mountains or else come across the desert from the west until they turn dark and we get a bit of rain. Sometimes just a sprinkle, some times up to a half an inch of rain or so, and then sometimes the clouds just go around us and it rains somewhere else.
