With the weight of peachs and some wind the top of the tree broke. We proped it up with sawhorses and boards. But then the birds started eating on the peaches and the apples. We tried hanging plastic bags in the trees thinking the moving bag would scare off the birds. NOT. They are still taking a good peck out of each one. How do the people that grow them for market keep the birds out. Oh but our little bags look like cute little ghosts in the trees after dark.

Wow! You got a huge harvest, too! The weight is pulling my apple and peach tree branches down, too. But so far the wind isn't able to cause any damage because our orchard is on the east side of our house, protected from the wind by the walls of our house and our chicken coop house, too.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest issue is the dang greedy birds. I don't mind sharing a few peaches, but I wish they could just all peck on a couple peaches until they finish them, instead of visiting every peach they can reach and just taking a peck or two. grr! We've got so much fruit this year, I really can't complain too much about sharing, though. lol!
