Hoya Vine Flower

My hoya vine is blooming again. It has a sicking sweet smell to me. Don't know what the cat thinks of it. But sure are pretty little clusters of flowers.

Curved Bill Thrush

This curved bill thrust lit near me the other day when I just happend to have my camera as I was taking photos of flowers. He turned around on the fence several times and I was able to get some decent shots of him, or her which ever it might be. We have several pairs of these birds that stay in this neighborhood and eat bugs. These birds are ken to mockingbirds and dig for grubs and other bugs in my garden and around the trees. They even try to dig up the pots of plants I have sometimes. The have a curved bill as their name says, red eyes and sing some what simular to their cousins the mockingbirds. They will usually let me get closer to them than the other birds in my yard.

April Snow

After all the fruit trees were blooming and the trees and plants were starting to put on their little green leaves Mother Nature decided to give us a spring surprise in the way of a snow in April. We had about 4 inches which covered the blossoms giving us a look at nature not seen very often. About 27 years ago we had snow on May 10th, Mother's Day and there was snow on my pink roses that were in full bloom. About 37 years ago when we lived in Silver City I remember it snowed on the tuplips and other flowers. Each time this has happened it is a heavy, wet snow that weigh down the plants but the sun comes out by noon and melts it all away. By 2 pm we had mud as seen in the last photo.

Jemez Springs Church

 When we came back through Jemez Springs we stopped at this gift shop (which was closed) as the pink flowers on the flowering plum tree in front of the church caught my eye. You can see how close to the main street of the town the church is. Not sure how old this church is but think from the 1940's or there about.

Cuba?

We went high up on a mountain, saw trees, and signs. A Cuba sign? Where are we any way. Actually this Cuba is a tiny town in northwestern New Mexico but there are better ways to get there than this road which ment about 50 miles on a dirt road full of mud and ruts. We turned around at the sign and headed back to Jemez Springs.

On the Road

Lots of construction on the road going to Jemez Springs when we went up the other day. Hope it makes the road better when they get finished.

Soda Damn

This little weird natural damn is called Soda Damn and is just above the town of Jemez Springs, NM. Don't know who the people in the photos are but I thank them for being good photo models.
